How Veneers Work to Give You a Brighter Smile

Veneers, bigger smile,Deidra Bird Kokel, DDS,

Your smile conveys so much to those around you. You can turn on your charm, exude confidence, and lift the spirits of others simply by flashing your pearly whites. But if your smile isn’t quite all that it should be, or as beautiful as it could be, you may benefit from dental veneers.

There are several different ways you can perfect your smile. But you may not have the time, or the desire, to take on long-term orthodontics. If it’s a matter of discoloration, teeth whitening and bleaching don’t always provide the results you want. If, however, you want to correct an uneven, stained, and discolored smile, dental veneers are the answer.

Veneers are extremely thin pieces of porcelain, which are affixed to the front of your natural teeth and can substantially boost your teeth’s appearance, both in color and alignment. Your custom veneers are made from a porcelain material that looks and acts like your natural tooth enamel. Your veneers can last for 15 years or longer, providing a lift in your confidence level and a reason to flash that brighter smile.

Veneers can improve the appearance of your teeth.

Whether genetics or life have caused your smile to fade, dental veneers can help. Chips, cracks, stains, and the degradation left by years of neglect can all be a distant memory when you brighten your smile with porcelain veneers. Veneers can even close gaps between teeth, remedy slight bite problems, and create a more uniform and straighter appearance.

Some individuals who opt for veneers to improve the look of their teeth have suffered for years with deeply discolored enamel. Certain antibiotics and other medications cause permanent stains to develop, causing embarrassment and self-consciousness for many. If you have permanently stained or discolored teeth, you may hide your smile or laugh. Veneers make it possible for you to truly, finally, laugh out loud.

The process for a brighter smile

Your new, brighter smile can be achieved in just two appointments with Dr. Deidra Bird Kokel. During your first appointment, Dr. Kokel takes impressions of your teeth and begins the process of preparing your teeth so that the veneers will adhere. You and Dr. Kokel will determine the color of your new veneers. Your impressions will be sent to the lab so technicians can create your new custom veneers.

At your next appointment, your veneers will be bonded to your natural teeth, in order to create the dazzling smile of your dreams. Dr. Kokel will check to ensure your bite is normal and that  there are no obvious issues with the bonding. You will come back for a follow-up visit to make sure you’re adjusting well to your new, more perfect teeth.

No special care required

Your new porcelain veneers require no special care beyond normal oral hygiene. Of course, you’ll want to make sure you brush and floss regularly, as well as scheduling regular cleaning and preventive care with our office. The better care you take of your new veneers, the longer that bright smile will last.

We’re here to make you smile.
